Quicker filming permit application process
11/07/2008Reports from the Xinhua news agency state that Chinese authorities are set to further simplify the procedures for overseas media wishing to film at cultural sites.
Earlier this year, the processing time for applications for permits to shoot pictures at cultural sites stood at 20 days. This month, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH) reduced to four days, and from 20 July, it will just take one day to have permits processed.
The faster processing procedure will be in place until 20 September 2008, and will apply to both accredited and non-accredited overseas media.
SACH noted the easier procedure would be used not only for the cultural heritage in Beijing and other co-host cities of the Games, but also in other cities around the country.
"As long as the reporting content was Olympic-related, and in accordance with regulations for the security of cultural heritage, the requests could be approved and processed quickly," says SACH.
